The close season concludes tomorrow, Saturday 13 July 2024, and hope you are all prepared for your return to Firhill.
You may of course have already watched Thistle at our friendly down at New Cumnock versus Glenafton. The game began with a minute’s applause in remembrance of Gerry Collins who had close links with both Clubs. There may only have been one Luke McBeth on the pitch but there were plenty of his relations in the stand and terracing advertising their support on the back of their shirts.
There has been plenty of sport to choose from since we all were last at Firhill.
The Euros have lasted four weeks and sadly the Scotland teams participation came to an end after just twelve days. There was an over-abundance of Jags fans following the National Team in Munich, Cologne including Brian Graham, but unfortunately training started in advance of the last match in Stuttgart and BBG was homeward bound.
This weekend see’s the tournament final on Sunday, which includes a team in red & yellow. Sunday also finds the final of the tennis at Wimbledon and the Scottish Open PGA Tournament at the Renaissance Club East Lothian.
But for all armchair sports fans you don’t need to experience withdrawal symptoms as the 152nd Open will be commence at Royal Troon over the week 14 – 21 July 2024.
Scotland Women’s Team will play Serbia at Firhill this Tuesday 16 July 2024 (ko 18:00). Thistle’s men’s team kick off at 3pm this Saturday their Premier Sports Cup group stage against Montrose.
Partick Thistle is using a company called Fanbase and encourage as many Jags supporters to set up their account and purchase their Cup, and Season, ticket in advance which will help both the business and playing side of the Club.
Remember season tickets are NOT valid for the Cup matches.
The close season also provided the time and space for the Club Board and Trustees, representing the fan ownership, to carry out interviews.
A warm welcome is extended to the new faces around the Firhill Office. To Levi Gill, General Manager, elected to the Club Board Fan Directors Allan McGraw and Alistair Gray.
We wish Chris Ross, our departing CEO, every success for the future.
At Petershill Park, PTFC Charitable Trust, Fraser Cromar has been appointed CEO.
Over the years a number of members have paid their Centenary Fund via the Jags Trust. We, and the Club, thank you for your years of support to this fundraiser. The final Centenary Fund draw took place in June and the Fund has now closed. You should ensure you cancel your instructions with your bank. The Club have set up the Thistle Lotto and its first draw will be next week. Full details can be found on the Club website.
Wishing everyone a Happy New Season
