Jags Trust members have been aware that over the past few years there have been several Working Groups, made up of Thistle Supporters and Organisations striving to ensure a closer working relationship between the Club and the fanbase. A huge debt of gratitude is owed to those individuals who were part of those working groups between 2019 – 2023.
In the past year The Jags Trust and The Jags Foundation have been working together, alongside the Trustees of PTFC Trust, on the journey towards fan ownership.
Tuesday 18 July 2023 saw a historic occasion take place at the Wyre Stadium at Firhill.
Representatives of The Jags Trust and The Jags Foundation signed the “PTFC Trust Deed of Assumption and Conveyance” under the watchful eye of Neil Drain of PTFC Trust, and were appointed as corporate Trustees.
This means that The PTFC Trust is joined by The Jags Trust and The Jags Foundation as trustees of the trust, who are the majority shareholders in Partick Thistle Football Club Limited.
Morag McHaffie, Chair of The Jags Trust “This signing represents the start of a new era for supporters of Partick Thistle Football Club. Neil and his colleagues at the PTFC Trust have demonstrated they were and are very open to working with The Jags Trust and The Jags Foundation and we have all worked together very well in the last six months to the point we have signed this legal document, which is momentous”.
This must be viewed as a huge opportunity for developing and strengthening the relationship between the Club, the members of The Jags Trust, The Jags Foundation, and fellow supporters, as we join a number of other Scottish football clubs, as “fan owners” of our beloved Partick Thistle FC.
