Statement by The Jags Trust. Trading name of The Partick Thistle Supporters Association

Partick Thistle Supporters Association t/a The Jags Trust exists by virtue of the Save The Jags campaign, without which there would not be a Partick Thistle today.

It has a shareholding (diluted but still 7%) held on behalf of and for the benefit of Thistle fans, has been an important one in terms of ensuring that fan voices are heard, for more than a decade in the Club Board Room and also at Annual General Meetings, EGMs and all major decision-making by the shareholders.

The Jags Trust, like The Jags Foundation, believe that Thistle should join other clubs in Scottish football in blending a professionally-run club with fan ownership, genuine and guaranteed representation in the Board Room at all decision-making levels and enhanced consultation with the lifeblood of all clubs - their fans!

Colin Weir presented Partick Thistle fans with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. If we get it right, Thistle fans can become the ultimate custodians of our Club, bringing long-term stability, safeguarding it for future generations, and helping it to thrive on and off the park.

Our organisations have complimentary strengths.

The Jags Foundation, by contrast holds no shares in the Club. However it has mobilised more than 630 fans behind a membership subscription model, in the space of just 9 months. This is after 30 months of hard graft by the working groups, which included representatives of the Jags Trust.

The Jags Foundation has the momentum and engagement with the fan base, membership now exceeds 900, that is necessary to make majority fan-ownership work.

The potential for synergy is obvious.

We believe that, by having our organisations continuing their dialogue and working together, Thistle fans will be better served in building the legacy of a community-owned football club of which we can all be proud.

Both organisations are committed to identifying and promoting a common vision of what fan ownership really means.

It has been a huge disappointment that representatives of the Jags Trust and The Jags Foundation have not been named as the suitable vehicle, in their discussions with 3BC, to become the majority shareholders in Partick Thistle since we share an aspiration.
